Notice of Nomination meeting

A Nomination meeting for the up-coming election of three Councillors for the Williams Lake First Nation will be held at the Williams Lake First Nation, Elizabeth Grouse Gymnasium on Thursday, July 4, 2024, from 6:00 pm-7:30 pm.

Any registered WLFN member 18 years old or older may nominate candidates by filling out the Nomination Form. Nomination forms can be hand delivered or mailed-in to the electoral officer before the nomination meeting or you may nominate candidates in person at the nomination meeting. Nominations NOT accepted by the Candidate by the end of the Nomination Meeting will be rejected. Copies of the Election Code and Voters’ List are available from the WLFN Office.

Note: All candidates must:
a) Be at least 18 years old as of the date of the Election.
b) Be members of Williams Lake First Nation.

Candidates must pay a fee of $25. All fees must be paid in full at the WLFN Office on or before Wednesday, July 10, 2024, otherwise, the candidate’s name will not be listed on the ballot. The election will take place at the Williams Lake First Nation, Elizabeth Grouse Gymnasium on August 15, 2024, between the hours of 9:00 am and 8:00 pm.

IMPORTANT NOTICE TO CANDIDATES

This election will be conducted under the T’exelc Custom Election Code. As per the T’exelc Custom Election Code, Section 11.4:
“An individual nominated for candidacy must submit a completed Nomination Form to the Electoral Officer by the end of the nomination meeting. This form requires the signatures of two eligible voters endorsing the nomination as well as the signature of the nominee acknowledging acceptance. Any nomination forms missing the necessary signatures will be rejected by the Electoral Officer at the conclusion of the nomination meeting”. All Candidates MUST accept their nomination by the end of the nomination meeting. The Electoral Officer shall reject any nomination forms that are not signed by the end of the Nomination Meeting by the Candidate and two Eligible Voters supporting the nomination. If you are planning to run as a Candidate and are not able to attend the nomination meeting to accept your nomination, please make sure you have signed the nomination forms prior to the meeting. Nomination forms may be obtained from the Electoral Officer prior to the Nomination Meeting, completed by supporting Eligible Voters and the Candidate and returned to the Electoral Officer before the close of the Nomination Meeting.
